The Future of Coaching
The Story
What if the next big leap in personal growth isn’t about replacing humans with technology — but making human expertise more powerful than ever?
In this forward-looking episode, high-performance coach David Sammel shares his vision for how AI can transform coaching, learning, and collaboration — without losing the human wisdom at the heart of it all.
From decades of experience coaching Olympians, elite athletes, and C-suite leaders, David explains why AI won’t replace coaches — it will amplify them. You’ll discover how technology can make learning deeply personal, remove wasted time, and connect people across the globe in ways we’ve never seen before.
You’ll hear:
- Why AI + human insight beats either one alone
- How personalized learning will replace generic advice
- A vision for global coaching collaborations in real time
- Why the real edge comes from using AI as leverage, not a shortcut
- The mindset shift you need to stay ahead in a tech-driven world
This isn’t a conversation about fear — it’s about opportunity. Whether you’re an athlete, a leader, or a lifelong learner, this episode will challenge how you think about AI, education, and your own potential.
Listen closely — it might just change how you prepare for the future.

This podcast is part of the Sports Social Podcast Network. Welcome back to the Locker Room Power podcast. Today's episode is a little different. It's not just my solo, it's really me talking about the future. And I'm also excited about next week's podcast where I interview Sheila Brayshaw, who's had a very colorful life as a dancer, as a model. That'll be a fantastic listen. But right now I'm standing on the edge of something very exciting. I've commissioned a new brand so. So if you've been on my social media, you will see the new brand coming to life.
There's a new website on the way. I'm developing new courses that integrate AI with decades of my league coaching experience. Let me paint the picture. This new branding doesn't just look sharper. It feels aligned with where I want to go, which is clean, mature and the next level, which is what I'm clearly wanting and meaning to build. So the courses that I'm developing, it's not just refreshing old material, it's fusing my experience in high performance coaching with AI driven tools that personalize the experience, track mindset shifts, and make the invisible visible.
Here's the belief I'm staking a claim on AI will create more opportunities than it destroys. I know it's not sexy and fear mongering is out there and a big part of the narrative. It's kind of very mixed. You got very positive and polarizing negatives. But I think some of the data actually show some real positive signs. According to Pricewaterhouse, AI could add $15 trillion to the global economy by 20-30. World Economic Forum says about 97,000,000 new roles, jobs by 2027. I mean, these stats are just mind boggling.
And MIT has shown that AI is augmenting human decision making, which will lead to better outcomes than AI or humans alone. So yes, it's all changing the landscape, OK, but I don't think it's in apocalyptic ways. And I think revolutionize how we educate ourselves, how we problem solve and how we scale expertise. And for that, I'm for it. AI is not going to replace human insight. I think it will amplify it. I don't think it's, I mean, a lot of people will use it for shortcuts, but it's more about leverage.
And I think the human intellectual property is really still fundamental to good work in my world. It means codifying what I've learned coaching Olympians, top athletes, top tennis players and C-Suite leaders and make it accessible, scalable and smart. Imagine linking, you know, young athlete in Johannesburg with a coach in Bath, for instance, A nutritionist maybe in Amsterdam. Everybody being able to bring it all together quite seamlessly with AI, effectively fact checking. And you also have to refact check AI, but giving additional ideas and additional ways forward.
I think that's where we're headed. So basically, people will have the intellectual property of the individual. So I will bring my intellectual property. And then you've kind of got these bots that will be personal coaches so that the questions that you ask will be personalized. The answers will be personalized to your specific situation rather than having to, you know, get a general overview, and you'll be able to pinpoint in each course exactly what you want to listen to and watch, rather than having to sort of go through a whole course and pick out the bits that work for you.
Not sure if I'm making sense, but I think I am. I think this is a really clear vision that I have. I don't know exactly yet how easy it's going to be to implement, but I've certainly been talking to people who can help me with this. And I would love for you to get involved in the conversation because this is something that is coming to us faster than I think anybody truly realizes. That's my take of the the future of AI. It's not going away anywhere. I think we're going to have to learn how to manage it, live with it, and enhance our lives through it.
Again, I look forward to speaking to you in the next episode. The fantastic Sheila Brayshaw will be here. And honestly, she is a really, really amazing person who's done some phenomenal things in her life and met some phenomenal people in her life as well. It's a very entertaining and useful interviews. I look forward to that next week. Thanks for listening to Locker Room Power.
